SharePoint 2010 Programmatically resize image/photo

1) Photos to be programmatically resized to 400x400px
2) Photos to be renamed to support auto population within SharePoint

Please let me know if any of you have exerienced.

1 library or multiple libaries?

SharePoint will automatically generate a thumbnail image for photos in a
picture library. Maybe there's a way to adjust the size of the thumbnail.

It should in in one library.............

I have an event receiver that can be attached to a picture library which will
resize the uploaded image, and store it in anoter picture libray. Its MOSS 2007.
If it sounds useful to you I'll try to find the code
