Because SharePoint 2010 doesn't use .STP files anymore and other
difficulties with upgrading customizations the fabulous 40 don't work in
SharePoint 2010. To the best of my knowledge you can't even upgrade an
existing SharePoint 2007 environment that uses them to SharePoint 2010.
Microsoft is working on updating most of them, but I've seen no anticipated
date for the release of the new versions.

I have successfully upgraded a SharePoint 2007 database that had the
Project Tracking and ITTeam Fab 40 templates  in them. I had to install
the applicationcoretemplate.wsp, the itteam.wsp and some project.wsp on
the SharePoint 2010 farm, but then they all worked. I can't speak for
any of the other Fab 40 templates.
