SharePoint 2010 Custom Access Request Page

Asked By: Ciera    Date: Jan 29    Category: Sharepoint 2010    Views: 3733

I have been tasked with creating a custom access request page for SharePoint
2010.

The specification is that the sites be designated with a kind of security level
flag (I've been able to accomplish this using a custom SPWeb property). The flag
determines if the site access request should be processed the typical,
out-of-the-box SharePoint way, sent to the site owner or sent to the users
Manager (from the User Profile).

The issue is when a user has been denied access and clicks the "Request Access"
link. The code I've written has an exception when it tries to access the SPWeb
to evaluate the security flag. The exception is "Thread was being aborted."

I think it's a access/permissions issue. It appears the the originating thread
is terminating because access has been denied to the user.

How can I get past it? Does anyone have any ideas (or code) that would allow me
to access the SPWeb after the user has been denied access? Any other ideas on
how to handle this situation would be appreciated.

I would guess you need to use RunWithElevatedPrivileges()...

I am using RunWithElevatedPrivileges, but I still get the aborted thread error.
