So far, yes. The original publically announced release date was “November
2009” and November isn't over yet.

The SharePoint 2010 Beta was publically announced at about 10 AM this morning.

I was surprised myself that I did not get the email alert I had signed up for at
MS. I did see all the chatter on some RSS feeds so I didn't miss any time. Not
that I've gotten it installed anyway. 2008 R2 is giving me fits installing SP.
Oh, well.....

There's a patch required to get Windows Serer 2008R2 to work with SP2010. It
should be out in the coming  weeks. I can't talk about it yet, but will let the
list know when the patch is publicly available.

SharePoint 2010 beta  2 hasn't been released yet publically. That's why you
didn't get an email yet. It is available to subscribers on on MSDN and Technet.
Also, please read the notes. You can't use the beta on Server 2008 r2 at this
point. You need a particular patch that isn't available yet. For the time
being you need to install it on Server 2008 sp2, not r2.

You can also follow #sp2010 on twitter for updates (people have been posting
issues).

That's the patch for Server 2008 - 2008 R2 will require a similar (but
different) patch that isn't available yet.

Yes, but that patch is only for Server 2008, not Server 2008 r2. MS is still
working out some issues on that patch for the r2 version of the server. That's
why 2008 r2 isn't currently supported.
