SharePoint 2007 Calendars in Exchange 2003?

Asked By: Aiesha    Date: May 04    Category: MOSS    Views: 1319

I'm wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction to
understanding the possibilities with respect to setting up group
calendars in SharePoint 2007 and having them available in Exchange 2003?

Is that something that can actually be done? ...or is there a preferred
method? [I'm under the assumption that Public Calendars in Exchange are
going away...]

For the time being I can't roll out Office 2007 or Exchange 2007, due to
infrastructure related issues... so I'm attempting to see what can be
done with what I've got.

And the answer is:

"Unfortunately it is not a process of making it available in Exchange
2003. It
is more of a process of making it available to your Outlook 2003 client.

You can accomplish this by having each of the users who want access to
calendar navigate to the calendar and select Connect to Outlook from the

Actions menu.

But, before you run off and do this, understand that with Outlook 2003
it is
a 1-way sync process. For example, you can add new items via SharePoint
they will automatically sync up with the calendar in Outlook, however
cannot go the other way.

If you want 2-way sync you need to have Outlook 2007.
