SharePoint 2003

I am attempting to add a News Area web part to my existing Portal Home
page but when I choose this web part from the Portal Web Part Library
it comes up already populated with news items. How can I retrieve a
clean copy of this web part? Also my Online Web Part Gallery is Empty,
is that how it is supposed to be?

You would need to create a new News area...

Are you saying that creating an AREA will generate the related web part
that I need?
