Shared docs / Forms folder

I upgraded to office 07 and found the
Publish button- I selected publish to document management server- upon
selecting it it opened network places

I have a "GP Shared Docs" GP is a "subsite" of the main WSS site (wss 3.0 on
server 2003) i select it click save

When i go to the shared docs on the GP site there is no document-

After fiddling around i change the the view to "explorer view " and i find a
folder called forms- the i open that - and there's the document

So im curious to know why it went to the forms folder and what is it actually

and why is it only available in "explorer view"
