Share point Search

Asked By: Jagdish    Date: Jan 01    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 592

Just installed Sharepoint and looking around it. I
had a question on Sharepoint Searchengine http://<server>/Search.aspx

I just wanted to know, if there are any api's / methods that I can
call to to search for content and get the response in a html/xml
format programmatically. If so what are they and how do I use them?.
Are there any sample programs / code snipettes?

Also, Please inform me of the best resource to get to know info on
Sharepoint. (Specifically the search part)

There is a web service - SPS Query Service and an object SPSQueryService
that implements the web service. You can create a query and send it to
SPS and receive xml results.

There is also a Get syntax for the query page.

Both of these techniques are covered in the SharePoint Products and
Technologies SDK found on Microsoft site.

I looked thru the documetation. I also saw the GET
syntax. I cannot use it as I want my result in XML. Hence I'm using the query
service. I have attached the code, Please let me know  what is wrong. I have hard
coded my credentials and the query string. I have placed this file where the
search.aspx is found
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server
extensions\60\TEMPLATE\1033\SPS

I'm getting a 404 error when I try to look for that page.
http://<myserver>/JyoSearch.aspx

However, when i look for http://<myserver>/Search.aspx, I'm able to see the
page.
