How do I setup an FQDN for a workspace?

I was wondering if I could setup a FQDN for a workspace folder so
that users can type the FQDN instead of the folder.

For example, http://server/workspace/Portal/Departments/Test

to http://testportal.test.company.com

www.microsoft.com/.../extranet.asp

to set up internal or external fqdn
