Setting up WSS 3 on Server 2008

Asked By: Tyson    Date: Jan 16    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 834

I'm trying to get a test site up on a new 2008 Datacenter version server running
in a VM (if that matters at all) and It just doesn't seem to be allowing me to
do much of anything as far as editing the site. Does anyone have any input on
this, it wasn't nearly as difficult when I did it on a 2003 server.

Windows Server 2008 deployments require a few extra steps, and a
slipstream installer for WSS - have you checked out
technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc287748.aspx ?

Actually I DID go through that doc (or actually the one for a standalone
server) and I did install it according to the instructions (or so I thought)
it just doesn't allow any editing (as in web part menu) any ideas?
