Setting Web Part Titles in a site definition

Asked By: Dianna    Date: Jun 26    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1263

I'm creating a site definition now and need to set the titles on my web
parts to be something other than the name of the list or library I'm
displaying. I cannot find any place within the site definition files
to do that. Can anyone help?

I've looked and never found a way to change the title of just the
webpart. You can change the name of the underlying list  or library,
which will be reflected in the webpart.

While it's disappointing to hear, it actually makes me
feel better that it's not just something I'm missing. My fallback
approach is to get as much as I can into the site  definition, then
create site templates off of it to put the finishing touches. Does that

Better double check the use of site  Templates. I know from experience
that there is an issue retaining security and some other customizations
when creating  site templates. Not sure if WebPart display title is one
of the issues or not. I would test it first.
