Setting up Sharepoint for access over the web

Asked By: Darren    Date: Nov 11    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 844

Our small company has just installed Sharepoint 2003 on our
Small Business Server 2003 server. Unfortunately, we are having some
issues setting it up for access outside of the office.

What we are TRYING to do is to set up Sharepoint so that members of
the company can access it through the internet while still restricting
any non-authorized people from getting into the system. This includes
uploading and downloading files, and all other functions that one
would have while inside the system at the office.

Can anyone give us a source that provides step by step instruction on
how to do so?

SBS has an internet connection wizard, which will configure WSS and
Exchange and if it is acting as the router, firewall and DNS controller
it should be very simple. I am assuming you have all that setup and have
LAN access  to the site and are only having dns issues from outside,
which could indicate that you have a router and or firewall setup
between the modem and the SBS server.

If you are using another router and or firewall, you must manually setup
dns and tell the sbs server not to handle that.

Thanks. We do have a firewall setup and we will look into the
settings. I appreciate the feedback.
