Setting permissions on folders/subfolders in a document library

Date: Feb 26    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 3931

I have a document library in which I have folders and subfolders. For
permissions certain groups need to read/contribute to the subfolders but should
not be able to see files in the top folder. If I don't give the group any
rights to the top folder even though they have rights to the subfolders they
can't see them. Is there any way to accomplish this?

Top Folder - No Access
Subfolder 1 - Read/Contribute
Subfolder 2 - Read/Contribute

Give the groups read access only to top folder.
Then give custom perms to the libraries below that

I have several libraries like this.

If users don't have rights to the library, they won't even see it.
