Setting up Multiple SSL Web Applications

Asked By: Anish    Date: Oct 11    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1369

This is a tangent from the MySite configuration question I had.

We're setting up MySites as a web app alongside our main portal web
app. Both need to be SSL.

The main portal web app was set up to use port 443, no host header,
then a load balanced URL (windows load balancing).

I want to create the MySites web app now. I'm probably going to use this method:

"I our environment we are hosting five web applications all using SSL
including Central Admin. The only way to get this to actually work
with all of them using port 443 was to have 5 separate IP addresses
on each of the WFEs and then to go into IIS for each of the web
applications and change IP address assigned to the web app
from "(All Unassigned)" to a specific IP address."

However, how does one intially set up the second web app in central
admin so that it gets created, so I can then modify the IP address.

The issue is that when I go to make the new web app using port 443, I
get told that the site already exists, as the main portal is already
on port 443.

Changing the IP in IIS makes sense, but I can't seem to get the site
created in the first place to actually perform that step.
