Session variables in SharePoint

Is it possible to use session variables in SPS?

My requirement is that i have a asp.net application which captures some
data. I would need to access that data in a custom created webpart in
SPS. I would be using a page viewer webpart to view the asp.net
We could send the captured data as query string to one of the aspx
pages in sharepoint site. Is there anyway we could access the
querystring values in our webpart . And is it possible to store this
data in a session object so that we can use it accross the site.

Just like any other .NET component, it is possible to access  the
QueryString in your custom  Web Part. You may want to consider using your
custom Web Part's cache:

Uncomment the following line in the web.config to get your session  variables …

<!-- <add name="Session" type="System.Web.SessionState.SessionStateModule"/>-->

There will be a performance implication.
