Self- Service Site Creation and My Sites

Does anyone have this feature turned on for their My Sites?
I'm debating this and leaning towards turning it off to keep the
structure clean.

Self-service site Creation needs to be turned on for the My site web
application or you users will not be able to create My Sites.
