Section headings in a long custom list?

Asked By: Chase    Date: Aug 29    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 2315

I have a very long custom list (83 fields including the system
generated ones). It started out as 7 or 8 different lists but in an
effort to be able to roll them up to a master view we were instruted
by our internal SP group that we had to make one list.

Because there are 7 or 8 'logical' departments these fields belong
to, I was hoping that there is a way within the editform.aspx page
to display section headings?

For example:

Sales administration:
- Cars? Yes/No
- Expenses Yes/No

Analytics:
- Maps needed?
- Dashboard? Yes/No

Etc...

Right now it just shows like a monster list of stuff like this...
- Cars? Yes/No
- Expenses Yes/No
- Maps needed?
- Dashboard? Yes/No

Is there anyway to do this?

You could try creating a view  and using 'Group By'

You will need to column to do the grouping but this should work for you

Use SharePoint Designer to edit the editform.aspx file. You can add
H2 or H3 tags to code to seperate the groups and you can move the
table entries around if you want to change the order of the items on
the page.
