Search on UDF

Can anyone tell me whether MOSS 2007 supports searching on specific
user-defined fields in a DocLib or List? In other words, say I add a
column called Keyword. Will I be able to have my users search just
that field for a value as opposed to the all-inclusive search feature?

Further, will my hits come back in a way that I can see where they
are? In other words, if my all-inclusive search brought back some
objects, will I know where the value existed in the hit list (ie., in
the full-text or in a specific field, etc.)?

Since all metadata is crawled and indexed, you can query for a keyword or phrase in a metadata field and receive a content item in your result set.

I understand about the metadata crawl and
index, but I am wondering if there is an option to get a bit more
granular in your metadata search. In other words, I have a field
out there that I have added to a DocLib called Keyword. Users
create documents and add values to that field. Will I be able to
search just the Keyword field in the search  UI in MOSS 2007? Or, am
I relegated to the all-inclusive Search field that I am used to in
SPS 2003?
