Search screen not refreshing

When my folks perform a search (sharepoint portal sp1) all goes well, then
when they resort the results via the best bet., date etc at the top of the
list the screen does not refresh.

The only way to get it to do this is to refresh (F5 or view refresh) which
sends the query again.

Then if they try to resort it works, once, and then they can not resort
again.....Of course I fI test it on IE on eth server it works just fine....
