Search Scope Question

Asked By: Jayshree Modi         Date: May 16, 2009      Category: MOSS      Views: 239

We are using MOSS 2007. We have a need to index .exe files but I would prefer
not to make this global to all search scopes. Is there a way to do this withoug
creating a new top level site and associated SSP?

Preferably I would like to create a separate search scope and apply the file
type inclusion to only that scope.

If you define a content type for exe files, you might be able to do
this. Beyond that, I don't think crawl rules can be set per scope.

There is a good book on sharepoint search  by wrox that may help you. You could
scan through it before purchasing.
