Search Scope problem

I can't figure this out. I've got two document libraries on the same
site. I've set up search scopes for each one. One updates (shows the
# of docs in the scope after a crawl), the other does not.
* Using WSS 3.0 and Search Server 2008 Express * Permissions are
the same on both libs. Both are set to allow items to appear in
search results. Search scope setup is exactly the same except for
the library name. I've reset the crawl log and crawled again,
still not showing any items in the scope.

The only other difference I can think of is that one that's working uses
the default document content type, and the library that's not
working has a custom content type (we need to manage a different set of
metadata). Could the content type have something to do with it? I'm
not aware of anything different I'd need to do in the scope setup.
If that's not it, any other ideas or suggestions for
