Search scope drop-down on a My Site

Asked By: Mercedes    Date: Mar 04    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 2087

I've got a test box, where everything is running within the same URL space, and
our production system, where we've split My Sites out into a separate content
database and separate URL.

I've just noticed that the search scope drop-down on the My Site created on the
production system does NOT include the All Sites and People options, but the
test box does.

I'm wondering if this is because it is separated out (although on the same farm,
etc) and what I can do to incorporate those options back into the drop-down.
They are enabled in the search scope configuration.

I found the solution to this. Under "My Site Settings" on the Shared Services
Administration, I had not defined a link to the Preferred Search Center. Once I
linked this back  to /SearchCenter/Pages on the portal URL, the drop-down  on My
Site included the additional scopes.
