Search for Intranet Sites via SharePoint

Asked By: Kara    Date: Jan 17    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1146

We are using SharePoint to crowl all our intranet sites.

We want to provide search option on each individual sites.
Say form with - text box and one submit button.

When user submit's search, it should query Index generated by SPS and show
results within the site.

Anyone had Script for doing that. If so, please send me code also.

Using content source I am able to
- create index  for intranet  website and
- able to search  using Search Dashboard.

I want to query  index generated  by sharepoint  from other intranet site.
That is, in Intranet - SiteA has some search page - which should query SPS
to get result.

How can I do that?

So you want to create a custom front end for search.
This can be done, but you will need to code  it. I have created a custom VB app
that searched SPS. You can do this using Web-Dav or Ado with the proper
providers. The SDK has demos and examples. You should start there. Basically,
you would create a seach page. Gather the user's input then create a web dav
request or connect using ado and send  the query  to SPS. If you need more, let
us know.
