Search function

Asked By: Candice    Date: Mar 28    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 695

For some reason my very top-level Search function is not working for
me. I can get it to find documents on non-portal sites and nothing on
my Sharepoint sites. If I go to one of the lower sites and do the same
search I do some Sharepoint results so I know I should be getting some
results at the top level. I have look at the guides for WSS & SPS and
the resource kits and they aren't really helping any. Does anyone know
of any other resource I could use?

Sounds like your WSS search  (for the site only, using SQL FT search) is working,
but your SPS (for all levels using the indexer) is not. Have you gone into the
SPS administration screens for the search indexes and confirmed things are
setup, content is being indexed, and there are no errors?

I'm not receiving any errors but when I go into Manage Index Properties
under my portal content index it shows that there are 59 documents  in the
index but shows 'no current documents' under Documents currently being
indexed. I'm not receiving any errors.

This help when we had this problem. go to central administration:
SharePoint Portal Server Central Administration > Manage Search
Settings
Configure Server Farm Account Settings

And specify the Account and password for:
'Configuration Database Administration Account'
'Default Content Access Account'
'Portal Site Application Pool Identity'

We found that even though the appropriate account was listed grayed
out for each one we had to specify it and entrer the password then our
search worked again.
