Is there any way to invoke partial search (instead of searching for csruser I want to search for csr and it should return all csr% results) in the SPS 2003.

Use the thesaurus and build in a stemming entry for csr**.

1. Are the custom properties of a document available for search? I

For question 2:
Look in the onet.xml for <Modules>
<Module Name="Default" Url="" Path="">
<File Url="default.aspx" NavBarHome="True">
You will see inside of the <AllUsersWebPart WebPartZoneID="Right"
WebPartOrder="1"> CAML for the site image WebPart contains

The frametype you are referencing is for a web part, I am trying to
impact a favorite's list.

I have created a custom favorites list, that I would like to have as
a web part on the default page and change the frametype.
