aren't so sure...
In Notes it is Super Easy to set up an automatic scheduled job (called
an Agent) that queries meta data (for upcoming expiration dates, for
example) and then automatically sends out email notifications for
people who need to be reminded of the expiring record.

How can something like this be accomplished or approximated in
SharePoint?
