Saves a 'Named' Copy of a File

Asked By: Malcolm    Date: Nov 26    Category: Sharepoint 2010    Views: 2281

Hi

New to Sharepoint so this may be obvious. I ahve set up a share where several users can access files (e.g. qwerty.xlsx). They can open the original file and work on it but when they save it saves a copy of the original - e.g. qwerty(ABC'S Copy).xlsx

Why is this happening, can I prevent it?

Any help gratefully accepted.

Thnaks

Go to your document library, then Library Settings, then Versioning Settings. Set the "Create a version each time you edit..." to "No Versioning". This will overwrite the old file each time it is saved.
