Save data from infopath to sharepoint library

Asked By: Malinda    Date: Sep 12    Category: MOSS    Views: 20192

I used microsoft infopath 2007 to help me with the cascading list
problem. I was able to get the sharepoint lists cascading in the
Document Information Panel. However, when I try to save the document,
I get this error "Infopath cannot submit the form, because it contains
validation errors. Errors are marked with either a red asterisk
(required fields) or a red, dashed border (invalid values). In this
case I got the (invalid values) but I don't know how to solve it. Can
someone help me?

Writing submissions from an InfoPath 2007 form to a SP library is very tricky. I'm not 100% sure about InfoPath 2007, but in SharePoint Server 2010, what I do is create a list in SharePoint first, and add a new item to the list. You'll see the "form" that SharePoint creates by default. From there, you can edit that form in InfoPath.

Now that I am thinking about it more, I do seem to remember reading somewhere that in order to get an InfoPath to write to a list in SP 2007, you need to use SharePoint Designer to get that done, and as I said, it was a pretty lengthy process.
