Runtime Errors on SPS

Asked By: Devika    Date: Feb 14    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1468

When I go to my portal page first thing in the morning, I get a Run Time
Error. Usually have to try the page 2 or 3 times before my portal page
comes up. Same thing with an All Source Search. Then it runs fine the
rest of the day.

Is there something that needs to be adjusted so the first/second times
these are requested they return data rather than error out?

Have you checked your server event logs? It’s likely you’re having trouble getting a process to start. This kind of thing  does tend to log errors…

The first thing  I would check is the health configuration of the
application pool. It sounds like you only have one thread which is
hanging sometimes and not being automatically recycled. Check out the
numerous ways you can have the thread(s) kick started.

Checked the NT Event Logs and the System Log shows:
The WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service service entered the running
state.

The WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service service was successfully
sent a start control.

Then, about 15 minutes later:

The description for Event ID ( 12503 ) in Source ( WinHttpAutoProxySvc )
cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry
information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote
computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this
description; see Help and Support for details. The following information
is part of the event: 15.

The description for Event ID ( 12517 ) in Source ( WinHttpAutoProxySvc )
cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry
information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote
computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this
description; see Help and Support for details. The following information
is part of the event: The event log file is corrupt..

The WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service service entered the stopped
state.

As far as the Application Pools, I checked all of them and on the Health
tab - all settings are at default (or what I assume are the defaults -
they are all the same) for every pool.
Pinging 30 sec
Enable Rapid-Fail Protection both values at 5
