RSS Viewer output customization

Asked By: Raymundo House         Date: Dec 21, 2007      Category: MOSS      Views: 225

The RSS Viewer Web Part is my current bane, and I'd appreciate it if
anyone can shed some light on my problem.

I am consuming an RSS feed from a blog that exists within a site
collection on my MOSS server, using the RSS Viewer web part to display
the title and description of the blog on my main portal page. I've
already gotten past the Authentication error others have noted by
making the blog's site collection open to anonymous access (although
this creates an NTLM authentication error when viewing the Portal using
Lynx -- we have a blind user, and this is creating a headache, but
that's not the focus of this inquiry)

Onto my problem: Is there any way to customize the formatted data
pulled into the RSS Viewer Web Part from a Blog?

Specifically, when the RSS Viewer renders the description XML content,
it grabs the word "Body:" from the CDATA in the XML <description> tag.
But I don't want that word, "Body:" to appear before my blog's
description in the RSS Viewer.

On the Blog itself, the word "Body:" doesn't precede the blog
description. How can I get the RSS Viewer to exactly mimic the look of
the blog itself?
