Has anybody been able use the XSL link to point MOSS 2007's RSS Viewer
at an external stylesheet?

The RSS feed url can be any valid feed. For example:

I simplified the xsl  down to:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0"
<xsl:template match="/">

If I paste this into the "XSL Editor" within the web part, it work
fine. If I save this to a file on a web server (anon access) and use
the XSL link, I get an error. I know the XSL file is accessible
because if I put a copy of the RSS feed in the same location as the
XSL file, it gets read.
