Routing Excel workbooks through a digital signature workflow

Asked By: Marilyn    Date: Jul 08    Category: MOSS    Views: 2176

We have Excel 2007 workbooks that we regularly route through a workflow via MOSS
for digital signatures, and I understand that once you sign a workbook with an
encrypted signature, it remains locked for editing. If you attempt to make any
revisions to this workbook after its first signature, these signatures become
invalidated and you have to start the workflow all over again.

But recently, anytime someone signs any of these workbooks, the next person in
the sequential workflow will open the document and get the following response:

"Signatures cannot be added or removed because this read-only workbook has been
changed. Remove signatures, enable editing, save your changes, and try again."

But nobody is making any revisions to these workbooks although they have macros
enclosed with custom functions, and I wonder if routing a macro-enabled workbook
is invalidating the signatures by recalculating its formulas whenever it's
opened for the next signature.

Is it possible to route an Excel or Word 2007 document through a digital
signature workflow if they're macro-enabled?
