Restriciting Access to Portal

What is the recommended practice for the following scenario?

If all users are part of a domain example: mydomain

The environment provides portals:

Portal1 & Portal2

All users of the mydomain have access to the Portal1 Domain, but you
want to limit a GROUP of the mydomain to only have access Portal2.

I know how to only grant access to Portal2, by just adding that GROUP
to security, but how can I prevent the GROUP from accessing Portal1
when all users of mydomain have been granted access?

Create AD User Groups for each of the portals and add only the users
you want to specific groups and lastly add those groups to the portals
instead of All Users. If you have users who need access to both
portals then you just add them to both groups. Not sure if it's the
best solution but this is just one of the ones I can think of to use.
