Restoring from backup file

Asked By: Veer    Date: Jan 19    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 696

I have a server (server a) on domain (domain a). I have another server (server
b) on domain (domain b). I want to restore the backup file from server a onto
server b. Both servers have the same configuration (windows 2000 w/sp 4 and sps
w/sp 1).

Does anybody know of any issues restoring the backup file from one domain onto
another domain?

One thing is to watch out for the user ids and groups. Last time I tried
to restore  to another server  if the ids and groups were not accessible
then SPS appeared to apply no security. I ran into this with local
security ids on a test machine. Since the user ids were not known to the
new machine SPS it appeared that SPS fell back to Everyone. You might
look at the import/export tools. It will be slower, but it creates a xml
manifest which you can tweak by hand before importing.

I was able to restore  from one server  (domain a) onto another server
(domain b) and I was able to reconfigure the security. But now my
subscriptions are not working. I get a Script Execution Error. Does
anybody know how I can recover the subscriptions for all the users?

In addition to the subscription problem below, whenever I click on any
of the categories, I get the "famous" dashboard error.

Can somebody please help me with these two problems?
