Restore problems with list using custom fields

Asked By: Hiral Ghadge         Date: Apr 14, 2009      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 285

I am moving a site collection to a new farm and have done a backup and
restore. The site appeared to restore find but noww all list that have
custom fields do not work in add/edit (display is fine) nor can I
change the configuration settings of the custom fields inthe list. Yes,
I have deployed the custom fields to the new farm.

Any suggestions? What am I missing?

Figured it out. Our custom  field is a drop down list  that can point
to any site  for the source , select a view, and even link them together
and do cascading filtering. Anyway, once the list was restored on the
new farm, it could not get to the url that was the source for the drop
dodown list which was pointing to the old farm  and it was throwing a
null object reference.

Just wanted to post the solution incase someone else runs into
something similiar. The farm appears to be the barrier.
