Restarting Timer Jobs in Central Admin

Asked By: Sade    Date: Oct 11    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 12518

I was having some issues with alerts..
mainly that they weren't being received consistently.
Someone had mentioned to me that I could go into central admin and
reset the timer jobs.
The only option that I saw was to disable then re-enable the immediate
alert time job and I did that.
Is there something else I should do, or is that what is meant by
resetting the timer jobs?
I know that I can also go into services on the server and restart the
sharepoint timer service as well..but, would that not be advisable
since the timer service affects a lot more than just alerts?

Just go to task manager and reset owstimer.exe. That will reset all
jobs, and it will restart  itself.
