Replication of folder content

Asked By: Juan    Date: Dec 15    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 877

Currently one of our workspaces contains 2 folders (latest & archive) full
of news & information articles which are published everyday and presented to
users via archive and latest web parts.

I need to replicate this folder structure to another workspace on a
different server on a daily basis. Other than these two folders the content
in the two workspaces will be different and cannot be affected by the

How can I achieve this??? Any suggestions would be welcome...

What I would is build a VB application, that can be scheduled to run
automatically once every day on the server, at a specified time.
This VB application would use the File System Objects (FSO) to copy files
from one workspace  to another. As the fso objects only work with normal
physical paths (such as C:\windows\...) and not the WSS paths, you need to
map the M drive on the WSS and use this M: path as a physical path. From the
M drive, you can access all the workspaces, inside windows explorer or
programmatically via FSO.

Please don't do this.
The "M" drive should only be used to access the 'Applications' folder
in the WSS, never to access the 'Workspaces' folder.
Using this drive can lead to inconsistencies in the WSS because the
"drive" bypasses the control of the SPS.

To manipulate SPS objects programmatically use the PKMCDO object instead.
