I added a column called Committee Assignments to a contacts list in v2.
This is a checkbox column with 5 different values. I'm trying to create
a view for each committee.

I'm using the following filter: "Committee Assignments is equal to
Executive Committee."

When I try to display this view, I get the error <!-- #RENDER FAILED -->

If I remove the filter and simply select display all items, I have no
problems with this view.
