For anyone uninstalling the SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services Add-In
from a MOSS2007 installation: be patient!
I tried setting up SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services integration with
MOSS2007 (now available with SQL Server 2005 SP2) as follows:
MOSS2007 WFE/Index/Query <SERVER1>, only Central Admin (no sites)
SQL Server 2005 SP1 hosting MOSS databases <SERVER2>
SQL Server 2005 SP1 w/Reporting Services <SERVER3>
SERVER1, SERVER2, and SERVER3 were up and running. I could access
Central Admin on the WFE <SERVER1> just fine, as well as Reporting
Services at <SERVER3>/reportserver. Then I applied SQL Server 2005 SP2
to <SERVER3>, installed WSS to <SERVER3>, and installed the SQL Server
2005 Reporting Services Add-In to <SERVER1>.
I configured reporting services for integrated mode and tried
configuring reporting services in Application Management, but couldn't
quite get it to work in MOSS. Also, accessing <SERVER3>/reportserver
stand-alone returned a reporting services error. I ran out of time for
the test, so I uninstalled the SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services Add-
In from <SERVER1> using the simple instructions at
msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa905866.aspx. This looked
like it broke the Central Admin site on <SERVER1>. I got called away to
a meeting and just sat back down, and now Central Admin comes up fine.
