Remove NT Authority\authenticated users

Asked By: Ralph Caldwell         Date: Jul 14, 2009      Category: MOSS      Views: 780

I have noticed that under all Site Actions>>Site Settings>>All people and groups
in my publishing site that I have NT authority\authenticated users listed. I
think this is how I have some authenticated but explained visitors logging into
my site and requesting access. They cannot do anything else outside of that but
I would like to stop this. Is this something that was setup by default for MOSS
and what happens if I remove this from my site? In Central Admin, under Policy
for Web Application - publishing site, I can also see listed is NT
Authority\local service - full read. Are these the same and if so can I just
change the permissions on this to deny all or something similar and let my site
permissions handle everything? Thank you in advance for you input on this.
