Remove the "By" line from Summary View

Asked By: Nilay    Date: Apr 14    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 2859

Does anyone know of a way to remove the "By:" line from the Summary
View of an announcement list? We only have 1 person with permission
to post messages right now, so they are showing up as the author on
all items. We just want to hide this on the "home" page, at least
until we loosen the reins on security. I know you can create a custom
view, but that puts all the fields in columns, rather than stacking
them in rows like the default Summary view does.

2 Ideas...
1) Allow people to only post  to the list
2) More of the solution you are looking for...

Go to the list  and create  a new view. Add the columns  that you wish
to display and in the order to be displayed. Now modify the webpart
and choose the new view. It is going to look different, but without
hours of customization only to change it back, this might be your best

The problem with creating a new view  is that you only get columns, not
rows. You end up trying to squeeze the Body of the item into a narrow
column, instead of an entire row that spans the full width of the
webpart, like the summary  view does.

You could use the content query web part as a start. Then customize
some of the basic code to bring in more than just the 'Title'
field. Follow that up some formating in a custome CSS sheet and you
would have the view  that you need. It would problably take me a 1/2
day to do it, thats just because I have done it a half dozen times.
