Remove a large group of old My Sites in SharePoint 2007

Asked By: Jay    Date: Oct 07    Category: MOSS    Views: 1870

I need to remove a large group of old My Sites created by non-current students.
Where in Central Administration do I go to see the listing of My Sites so I can
delete them?

On the Application Management tab just go into the "Web application list" and
chooes the web app that hosts your My Sites. Then click on "Site Collection
List" and you will have a list of all of the site collections on that web app.

I actually prefer to do this from the command line with:
stsadm.exe -o enumsites -url http://mysites.yourdomain.com/.

This gets me an XML file that I can edit out the sites  I want to keep and then I
can feed it into a script that deletes the sites using stsadm.

I'm going to follow your example using stsadm to build then edit a file then
script the deletion.
