Remove "Discuss" on category and folder views

  Asked By: Pamela    Date: Dec 09    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 779

Anyone know which file/template has the "discuss" hyperlink in, so I
can remove it.

I don't wish to use discussions, and would rather not have the text
there.

You need to go into the resources folder  and look for this file
FolderItemsPart.xsl and delete the line below:

<A id="id_discussThisItem"><xsl:attribute
name="href">/msoffice/commfrms.asp?url=<xsl:eval>canonicalizeForUrlParam
eter(g_strActualBaseDocUrl);</xsl:eval></xsl:attribute><xsl:value-of
select="/dav:multistatus/Strings/String[@_locID='L_ResultListActionDiscu
ssLabel_TEXT']"/></A> |

Make sure you keep a copy of the original file in case anything happens.

Look in the vbs code for the name of the xsl sheet. It's explicitley
named there. That way, you can change the name of the sheet that's
being applied. Change it to MyFolderItemsPart.xsl, so you don't
fudge around with the orginal. Also allows you to make decisions in
vbs code as to which one to apply. I used that to give some authors
the links to edit the doc library folders, while keeping the others
out. I'm a lot better with vbs than xslt.
