Remotely Grabbing WSS Information

Asked By: Mariah    Date: Sep 07    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 725

I have written about trying to use stsadm.exe to get my SPS2
information onto a newer server. Somebody wrote back to me saying
that it is not possible to use 'stsadm.exe' to get that info from a
remote server. I am not positive if this is true, but I have been
doing some research and I have seen nothing that says this. In fact I
think I have seen articles that say it IS possible, but I am not 100%
yet. Does anyone know if this is possible. TIA for any help that
anyone can give me.

I assume you are talking about WSS only?

Yes, it is a URL, but it is WSS2 not the Portal Server

I have used smigrate to backup a team site on one server  and then copy the
backup file to a neother server and restore the site to that server.
