Regarding Managed Metadata

Date: May 29    Category: MOSS    Views: 805

I am new to share-point. I want to know is it possible for users to enter their
own data in My Profile in edit mode.

I know we can create a new term set with data and the user can select it. But my
requirement is different.

For example: A user wants to update his skills in My Profile, he goes to his
profile page and clicks edit my profile and in the skills column he can add a
new skill which are already defined.

1. If he wants to add "new skill" as his skill in his profile which is not a
term set can he/she do??

2. And when synchronization happens will it reflect in AD or SharePoint
Directory.
3. Is there a way where a user can add custom skill in his profile???

Hope you got it. Waiting for replies from you.

As far as I know, the skills column allows adding terms out of the box. If
you've set it to specifically be a managed term set, then you just need to
make sure that the term set itself is set to allow users to add data. (Make
it an "open" term set.)
