1 ) i am trying to take backup and recovery from my dev to production machine
..it is
publishing portal..just my company people given me production server without
installing AD , DNS ..do i need to install AD , DNS in prodcution server ?? if
not how can i configure from my prod machine to AD..please help me out any one

2) and my second qn is --in prod serrver first what i need to restore, is it
sitecollection or mysites or SSP ?? and while i am taking backup from stsadm
tool sitecollection size is around 7MB in .dat format .....but when i tried with
central admin utility it is more than 3 GB in .BAK format ..So why stsadm tool
is not getting full backup of sitecollection ..but when i tried to restore
operations are successfull in cmd line prompt but i am not able to see my
publishing portal ..Please help me out by giving any suggestions ?
