Reference to document templates

Asked By: Wendy    Date: Mar 23    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 992

When you create a new Word document in SharePoint, using the [New Document] button, you are using the document template, stored in the forms folder.

If you email such a document to a person that has no access to my SharePoint site, he is asked by MSWord to log on to my SharePoint site.
Reason for this is that the used template and path is stored in the document. You find this reference by checking “Tools” à “Templates and add-ins” on the [Templates] tab in the first field. (Document template: http://My.SharepointSite.com/Site1/Shared%20Documents/Forms/template.doc )

Not everybody has this problem. Using another workstation, I get the template “normal”, as it is used by the template.doc

Does anyone know if there is a MSWord setting that prevents setting the reference to the template?

Other solutions?
