Recovering workflow history

Asked By: Demarco    Date: May 10    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 2632

I recently was enlightened at the fact that microsoft programmed SP to
automatically purge workflow history from the database after 60 days.
Such a great feature, especially for companies who rely on the
workflow history for auditing (can you sense the sarcasm?). Now, I am
stuck with wondering if there is a way to recover the workflow
histories for docs. I know you can view the list of workflow histories
by going to http://server/site/list/workflow history/all something
something. But, can you make the histories go back to being associated
with the particular document so that If I click on the drop down of
the doc and click workflow, it shows the history for that one doc?
This is extremely important to our company especially with ISO, and
CMMI audits coming anytime. Thanks for any help!!

BTW: I disabled the workflow purge timer feature in timer defs.

I'd be interested in knowing the answer to this as well. We've written a
web part that makes the hidden Workflow history  list a little bit more
readable, but it would be nice to be able to drill into the history from
the document  itself.
