How do we recover from creating a top level my site?

Asked By: Bhagavati Yadav         Date: Mar 21, 2010      Category: MOSS      Views: 242

Please do not ask how this happened. We created a top level my site collection
in SharePoint 2007. Now I need to figure out how to reverse what happened.
Whenever anyone brings up their My Site they get an access denied because the
top level site is hanging out there. Somehow this has to get removed or changed
so that they get redirected back to their own personal "my" web site. Can
anyone help me with this?

So is your mysite the on the same port number as your SharePoint site?

You can thru going to the SSP and changing the mysite settings back to the
original ports.
Change the Alternative Name Mappings back to the original site.

Or do a full restore ( You did back up the Sharepoint and MySite?)
