Recognizing Links from other List web parts

Asked By: Robin    Date: May 23    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 865

I need to get context of all link web parts from my portal home page. I am able to get all web parts in a web part collection and identify all the lists; but the trouble is that many web parts come in this category, like announcements, tasks, doc lib, custom list etc. Is there a way to find out which web part are links and others just normal list web parts?

I tried to look into the database and found out that links use a unique template id – 103. Can I use this template id to identify whether the web part is links web part or some other list web part? My concern here is that is it possible for someone to change this template id’s in some manner and if yes, is it supported?

I think that you are looking for the SPList property called
BaseTemplate. It gets the list  definition type on which the list is
based. It is based upon the Microsoft.SharePoint.SPListTemplateType
enumeration. So you will want to look for lists  with BaseTemplate ==
SPListTemplateType.Links
